SHAPESHIFTING

A Virtual Exhibition - in shifting times

Welcome

to my Virtual Exhibition 'Shapeshifting’ which I set it up in my ‘Atelier Ephémère’ in the old Vicenal of Sart-Risbart, South of Bruxelles, in October 2020.
At the end of September 2020 I had the opportunity to work in a fabulously vast and light-drenched space in Belgium, just outside Brussels.
I decided to create a POP-up exhibition of work created on site in relation to previous theme-related pieces. I have recorded it for you and hopefully you will be able to get a ‘virtual’ feel of what I have been up to in the last months, despite exhibitions and open studios recently being canceled or postponed.

Please discover here some photos and short videos of new work completed since March 2020 in dialogue with big drawings and sculptures created over the last 7 years.

‘SHAPESHIFTING’

In the very earliest time, when both people and animals lived on earth,a person could become an animal if he wanted toand an animal could become a human being.Sometimes they were peopleand sometimes animalsand there was no difference. All spoke the same language. That was the time when words were like magic. The human mind had mysterious powers.A word spoken by chancemight have strange consequences. It would suddenly come aliveand what people wanted to happen could happen –all you had to do was say it.Nobody could explain this:That’s the way it was.
– after Nalugiaq Tutanuak (from Magic Words: Songs and Stories of the Netsilik Inuits by Edward Field)
