The artist spends a lot of time observing and drawing the anatomy of dogs in order to gain a deeper understanding of how to embody their elegance and spirit. Working closely with her bronze foundry in London she supervises all steps of the long production process. This enables her to achieve the tactile quality of the bronze and the warm, deep colour of the patina. It is being sold as a limited edition of 9. The edition is for sale at studio price until the end of Dec 2021. 

The clay vessel carries motifs of the fertility myths, and honours the goddess of life, death and regeneration. Do you recognise the snake dividing the plate in the middle, splitting the cells and originating new growth? The motifs are from an archeological find : an egg and germ splitting image from a late Minoan amphora from the Royal Tomb of Isopata at Knossos. 

The clay vessel carries motifs of the fertility myths, which have been inspired by tales of the creations myths from Palaeolithic times : Two does swirling around each other, their bodies transformed into a crescent. The parallele lines on the bodies of the deer give an impression of rainclouds, fertilising the soil and the snake winding in the middle of the bowl divide and simultaneously unify different worlds.
