The adventure of printmaking
Printmaking is a journey of exploration, where precision meets unpredictability. Each print offered here is the result of a hands-on process that blends craft, experimentation, and a touch of serendipity.
Linoprint
Linoprinting begins with a block of linoleum, which is carved by hand to create a design. This technique embraces simplicity and boldness, using clean lines to convey sculptural forms and subtle textures. Once ink is applied to the block, it is pressed onto paper, and the final image emerges. The process often requires multiple trials, with each attempt revealing new possibilities in tone, texture, and balance.
Etching with Aquatint
Etching is a more complex method, involving the creation of grooves in a metal plate through exposure to acid. Lines are drawn into a resistant coating on the plate, and acid bites into the exposed areas, creating channels for ink. Aquatint introduces tonal depth by applying resin powder and controlling acid exposure. Each print is a discovery, as the press reveals how ink, paper, and plate interact to form the final image.
No two prints are ever exactly the same, and this inherent unpredictability is part of what makes the process so compelling. Behind every finished piece is a series of experiments, adjustments, and moments of magic that bring the work to life. Explore the collection and find a piece that speaks to you. The editions are very limited.
